Citizenship and Residency:
To be eligible, students must be:
- Australian citizens, or
- New Zealand citizens living in Australia, or
- Hold a visa (such as permanent residency) that exempts them from international school fees
- Applicants from government, non-government, and home school settings are also eligible
- Fee-paying international students enrolled in Victorian schools are not eligible to apply

Year Level:
Students seeking admission to Year 9 in Mac.Rob should not have previously sat the Victorian Selective Entry High School (SEHS) exam. Every year, approximately 300 places are offered. Entry into Years 10 and 11 is more limited, with only a few places available annually, depending on vacancies from the previous year’s cohort.

Entrance Exam:
All applicants must sit an entrance examination a year before the intended enrolment. For year 9, admission is conditional on successful completion of the entrance exam. For years 10 and 11, admission is based on an entrance exam, application, shortlisting, and interview.

Exam Format and Structure

Verbal General Ability (60 questions, 30 minutes)
